Effective April 26, 2025

In coordination with Lac La Biche Forest Area and Athabasca County, the Summer Village of Island Lake is now in a Fire Restriction.

Due to recent fire activity and forecasted weather, a Fire Restriction is now in effect.

Under this Restriction:

• New fire permits will not be issued.
• Existing fire permits will not be renewed.
• The discharge Fireworks and Exploding Targets is prohibited.

For greater clarity, this Restriction does not include:

• Fires in Bylaw compliant Fire Pits
• Fires in Bylaw compliant Burn Barrels

Furthermore, residents are reminded to use extreme caution when recreating outdoors. Motorized vehicles travelling through dry grass can quickly start a fire with hot exhaust components. Campfires, while still allowed, are only permitted in designed fire pits and must comply with the Fire Bylaw.

This Fire Control Order comes into effect immediately and will remain until removed by those in authority.
