Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan.

The Summer Village of Island Lake has completed the Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan. This plan is intended to assist SVIL Council, staff and residents to be able to assess and encourage community collective action toward climate resiliency and ensure that projected future climate conditions are considered in the decision making process.

This project was funded by the Government of Alberta through the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre’s Climate Resilience Capacity Building Program. The Municipal Climate Change Action Centre is a partnership of Alberta Municipalities, Rural Municipalities and the Government of Alberta.

While climate change is a global concern, it requires local attention, as many of the most effective actions we can take to become more resilient to climate change are within the jurisdiction of local government.

Council and administration look forward to assisting in the protection of our lake and community from climate change
